eEmpACT NetworkingSocial Networking Sites:
An Employer's Friend or Foe?

Search online for social networking sites and how they fit in with recruiting, but be prepared to do a lot of reading.

In fact, many of the staffing/recruiting conferences and trade shows will offer seminars about the legality of using these sites for the purpose of hiring and recruiting.

If your company or business leaders haven't already faced the reality of people within your organization using these sites for a personal or professional nature, you are already behind the times.

While each of these sites serves a different demographic, different purpose, and use a different platform to meet the needs of its subscribers, it is easy to understand that there are millions of users and with trafficked sites that reach staggering numbers that continue to rise.

Debates flare up around the issues of privacy, personal space and whether these millions of subscribers are untapped resources for recruiting for your business.

What are your thoughts about these social networking sites? Is there a place for them in the workplace, or are they one of the forbidden taboos of the office environment?

We'd like to hear your opinions. Share your views, and if we publish them, we'll send you a gift card!
