4 Ways Social Media Improves Processes At Staffing Agencies
You're an innovative staffing agency, already embracing modern staffing software, well-connected in your key industries and quickly growing your team. But are you embracing social media?
From promoting new job openings on Twitter to finding red flags on Facebook, there is no shortage of ways in which social media can improve processes for modern staffing agencies.
That said, the sheer number of ways in which social media can help may be its biggest downfall. The social web is so big and so powerful that many staffing agencies are reticent to dive in full-speed ahead without first knowing every way in which it can help or hinder staffing efforts.
While moving the needle in terms of full-on corporate involvement in social media may be a long and uphill battle, the four tips below can be implemented quickly with maximum impact by nearly any staffing professional:
1. Look For Candidates - One social network, Linkedin, boasts everything from high level Fortune 500 executives to entry-level copyeditors, all congregating in an online channel dedicated to professional networking. Rather than constantly waiting for the candidates to come to your house, why not go and find them in their club?
2. Review Potential Employees - How often have you seen a resume where you absolutely knew something was being left out? Social networks make it very difficult for potential employees to mask past negative behavior, whether in the workforce or in social channels. Simply type your candidate's name into Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter to find a complete employment history, social activities and deepest thoughts. In less than five minutes, screen a candidate for experience, culture and attitude.
3. Listen - Social networks aren't just places where you can look for or review candidates. These same potential candidates may be putting off beacons, ranging from Tweets, to comments to status updates indicating that they are looking for that perfect job you have waiting for them. And the best part is, every social message can be found by searching for the right keywords/user names in any search engine.
4. Promote - Granted, you're going to need approval for this one. But how quickly do you think you may be able to fill a position where you drop a real-time job request to a dedicated social media following? If you are unsure, check around. A lot of your competition may be already there.
